  1. Browsing Tips

  3. The following hints may assist you in using the 
  4. keywords to find images on your Artville CD:
  5.  
  6. Orientation: All images have key words indicating 
  7. whether the image is vertical, horizontal, or 
  8. square.
  9.  
  10. Color: All images have keywords indicating 
  11. dominant colors, as follows:
  12.  
  13. red
  14. red-orange
  15. orange
  16. yellow-orange
  17. yellow
  18. yellow-green
  19. green
  20. blue-green
  21. blue
  22. blue-violet
  23. violet
  24. red-violet
  25. black
  26. white
  27. gray
  28. gold
  29. silver
  30. bronze
  31. black and white (photography)
  32.  
  33. Setting: When appropriate, images have keywords 
  34. indicating setting: interior or exterior; urban, 
  35. rural, or suburban.
  36.  
  37. Location: When appropriate, images have keywords 
  38. indicating location: i.e., a particular city, a country.
  39.  
  40. Objects: Object images have keywords indicating 
  41. whether the image is a dropout or square cut.
  42.  
  43. Medium: When relevant, images have a keyword 
  44. indicating in what medium the art was created; i.e., 
  45. digital, pen and ink, oil, pastel, etc.
  46.  
  47. Type: All images have a keyword indicating whether 
  48. they are illustration or photography.
  49.  
  50. Content: All images have a keyword indicating the 
  51. subject that the image represents: i.e., animals,  
  52. lifestyles, business, sports and recreation, fantasy.
  53.  
  54. To conduct a search using keywords, use the NOTES 
  55. criterion, which is accessed through the pop-up 
  56. menu in the SEARCH dialog box.
  57.  
  58. Keywords (with the exception of content categories 
  59. and proper nouns) are singular rather than plural, 
  60. regardless of how many of something appear in an 
  61. image.
  62.  
  63. Keywords are noun forms (rather than verbs) 
  64. whenever possible: i.e., "driving," rather than 
  65. "drive" or "drives." 
  66.  
  67. Keywords are lowercase except for proper nouns. 
  68. The Kudo browser disregards capitalization in its 
  69. searches.
  70.  
  71. Artist's names and the titles of Artville CDs are 
  72. included as keywords.
  73.  
  74. The Kudo browser will find partial words. For 
  75. example, searching on "man" will find images with 
  76. "man," "woman," and "manatee" as keywords.
  77.  
  78. After images are found using a keyword search, you 
  79. can redisplay all of the disc's images by selecting 
  80. FIND ALL from the IMAGE.
